SCAPE PUBLIC ART ‘ART IN RESIDENCE’ EVENING
SPONSORED BY BOULDER BAY WINES
In November 2020 the owners of Boulder Bay Wines, Paul Duffy and Loren Allpress, hosted a SCAPE Public Art ‘Art in Residence’ exhibition event at their Arrowtown home. SCAPE Public Art installs public art in Christchurch with a focus on the annual seasons. SCAPE Public Art is the Christchurch expert in the installation of public art, and the SCAPE Public Art Seasons are New Zealand’s premier public art events. Over the past 22 years SCAPE has become the largest producer of new contemporary public artwork in New Zealand. These artworks provide a unique point of difference for the city. Ambitious and high impact, they enhance the urban centre and raise the profile for public art in Christchurch.
The ‘Art in Residence’ evening showcased over 15 NZ artists whose paintings, photographs, ceramics, and sculptures were hung, displayed, or installed in and outside the Duffy/Allpress house. The evening welcomed over 105 guests made up of new supporters and art enthusiasts and sold over $165,000 of artworks. The revenue supports NZ artists, particularly helpful in what was a challenging year due to COVID. Following all commissions paid to artists, SCAPE achieved a profit of over $15,000 to produce future artworks for Otautahi Christchurch and ongoing support and development of local and national artworks.
Boulder Bay Wines was delighted to provide it’s 2020 Rosé to guests as one of two sponsors of the evening.
